This piece is composed of chiefly environmental recordings made in New England during the summer of 2005. My interest is to capture the aura of the soundscape. The vibrations and rhythms of our immediate soundscape contain a complex array of possibilities and therefore make a perfect springboard for musical composition. Soundtrack was the primary software used.
Rather than over-manipulate these environmental sounds, I chose to weave the sounds together, only processing them when necessary. Of particular interest is the middle section of the piece, in which I present "au naturel" the night sounds of three different locales where I spend time - the suburbs of Boston, the Connecticut seashore, and rural Western Connecticut.
This piece is a take on the insect sounds, mixed with other environmental recordings that I made. It is a sort of cityscape / countryscape. It features a thunderstorm that I recorded in the summer of 2005.
This is an original story that I made up with my daughter Nathalie at age 5. It features original audio.
A remix of the Girl and Monster story
This is Nathalie's original words, set to a structured musical composition.
